Who we are

Through research, education, and advocacy, Housing Texas is changing how people think about affordable housing, and the steps our state takes to make the opportunity of homeownership a reality for every willing citizen. We are a coalition of industry, nonprofit, religious, consumer, and financial organizations from all parts of Texas working together to build strong public support for affordable homes. We believe that every hard working family deserves the opportunity to rent or own a quality home.

Our mission

To develop a comprehensive strategy for rural and urban housing in Texas and secure the tools and funds needed to implement the plan. Housing Texas has four major goals to:

  1.  Increase state and local investment to make more quality, affordable homes available to rent or own.
  2.  Improve the stewardship of housing programs to build public confidence.
  3.  Increase public awareness about the housing needs in rural, urban, and suburban communities.
  4.  Promote housing solutions that strengthen Texas towns and cities.
